Gut Health for a Vibrant Life

Bloating, constipation, diarrhea, food intolerances, heartburn, gallstones, SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth), SIFO (small intestinal fungal overgrowth), IMO (intestinal methanogen overgrowth), yeast overgrowth, are just some of the things we help patients address.  If you are currently struggling with any of those issues and would like help, schedule an appointment with Dr. Andrew von Plitt, ND or Dr. Meg Chuang, ND, LAc today.

We offer comprehensive testing to assess both gut health and the health of related systems. That information is used to create treatment plans tailored to each or our patient's individual needs.

Pregnant Belly

Bloating

Yes, we know the picture shows a pregnant belly, but we chose it because so many patients describe intense bloating that makes them look pregnant.  Some bloating from time to time can be normal, but severe bloating, or bloating that happens every day is not normal.

Usually excessive bloating is a sign that something is not right in the gut. This can be anything from an imbalance in the gut microbiota (the microbes that live in the GI tract such as SIBO), poor digestive function, food sensitivity, or a number of other concerns.

If you would like help getting to the root cause of your bloating, set up an appointment with one of our providers today.

Diarrhea / Constipation

Everyone experiences these symptoms from time to time, but if either diarrhea or constipation is an ongoing part of daily life, it might be time to talk to a professional.

These symptoms can be caused by a number of issues that range from food intolerances to gut microbiota imbalances.  If left untreated, gut barrier function could be effected leading to increased permeability (leaky gut), which can lead to more systemic symptoms such as inflammation, brain fog, and fatigue to name a few.

Don't just wonder why you are experiencing these symptoms, talk to a professional today.

Food Intolerance

Many symptoms can stem from unidentified food intolerances.  Most of the patients we have seen have simply been given a list of foods to avoid when food intolerance is present.

Our approach is to help our patients understand which foods need to be completely avoided and which foods can be brought back in the future once the patient's gut health has been balanced.

We want you eating a large variety of foods and enjoying life. We absolutely do not want you limited to only a handful of foods for the rest of your life.

If you are ready to take your health to the next level, set up an appointment with us today.

SIBO, SIFO, IMO, etc.

SIBO, SIFO, IMO, and other acronyms stand for the many types of gut microbiota imbalances defined by the type and location of microbial overgrowth.

Unfortunately, many people have come to believe that these are chronic conditions.  In our experience, when a patient goes through cycles of improvement and reoccurrence of these conditions after treatment, it is because of another underlying cause.

If that underlying cause is not addressed, these certainly can be conditions that never fully go away. However, when the underlying issues are addressed, it is possible to move beyond these diagnoses.

If you have been diagnosed with one of these conditions and it keeps coming back, or if you suspect you have one of these conditions and would like to have labs done to confirm the diagnosis, come see our team to discuss next steps.

Stomach Ache

Gallstones

Most people believe that if they have gallstones, their gallbladder needs to be removed.  While that is true in some cases, in other cases it is possible to dissolve the gallstones and save the gallbladder.

If you would like to discuss therapies for gallstones come see our providers.
